Simple - as you cook or prepare food, collect your fruit and vegetable scraps. Check out Get Started for ideas on using containers you already own to collect scraps, a list of places to drop off your food scraps nearby, and a list of all food scraps accepted by our local drop-off sites.
GrowNYC has a compost drop-off site on Saturdays, year-round, from 11:00 am - 3:00 pm at Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church, 228 Decatur Street (at Lewis Ave.)
Check out the Get Started page for more drop-off locations.
Yes, you can! If you have access to a small space indoors, a worm bin or Bokashi container can create great compost. If you have access to outdoor space, you can make your own compost bin or use a worm bin or Bokashi container outside.
Check out How to Compost for more details.
Become an advocate for composting in NYC! Check out the Advocacy section for petitions to sign to show your support for composting.
